Two / Three Section Cups Number of sections the bra cup is divided into. Larger cup sizes are usually 3 section, though some styles will have 2 sections on smaller sizes, progressing to a 3 section on larger sizes.
Three Position Back Fastening Number of hook positions (usually in sets of 2 or 3) at the back of the bra
Adjustable Stretch Straps Straps can be adjusted at the shoulder for the most comfortable fit
Half Cup Bra A more shallow bra cup suitable for wearing under a lower cut dress or top
Tulle Tulle (pronounced “tool”) – A lightweight, very fine type of netting
Busk Front Type of corset fastening with small metal hooks
Boned / Boning Plastic rods that structure a basque, corset or body giving support and shape
Light Boning As above but less stiff
Ruched (pronounced “roosht”) – Gathered material
Mesh Overlay A mesh cover over a brief or bra cup
Multiway A type of bra that can be worn in various ways – eg. strapless, halterneck, racerback, normally, etc
Seamed Cups Bra cups that feature visible decorative seams
Hidden Bra / Inner Bra / Integrated Bra Hidden bra support built into some Camisoles, Basques and Vests
Built-in Underwired Support As above
Plunge Bra Gives the wearer a full cleavage. Suitable to wear under low cut tops
Removable Pads Extra padding inside the bra cups that can be removed depending on the amount of cleavage required
Wing Back panels of the bra where the fastening is
Moulded Cups Bra cups that are moulded foam & have no seams to create a smooth, seamfree cup. Ideal for wearing under T-shirts
Seamfree Cups A smooth seamfree external cup, ideal for wearing under T-shirts
Light/Medium/Strong Support Usually associated with briefs / basques / bodyshapers. Relates to the level of support used in the garment to hold you in
